About this 3D model

A modular stackable shelving system designed to stack small networking appliances and/or other items of similar size. Included are designs for stackable shelves, a base, a base shelf, a top shelf, and 2 different types of joiners. The shelves are engineered with their support structure facing upward to prevent the appliances from sliding off. Many of the parts are designed with M3 threaded holes, simplifying assembly using common hardware. They can all be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer, with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS and many other types of printable materials. PLA works very well for this application. It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and last for a long time. However, it should not be stored or exposed to high temperature, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F). Should the object be left in or exposed to high temperatures, I strongly recommend using another heat tolerant material, such as PETG or ABS to prevent warping. I have been using the one in the pictures since August 2019. It is made with PLA and has served me very well in my office environment. Because the selves are designed with an emphasis for ventilation, the switching equipment remains close to room temperature.
