About this 3D model

This project started out of pure frustration. I was searching everywhere for a proper 40mm weatherproof-style fan cover and honestly… everything I found felt weak, thin, flimsy, or just badly designed. Most models looked like they were made only for appearance and not actual real-world use. Thin walls, awkward airflow, poor protection, or designs that looked like they would crack the moment you tightened the screws. So instead of settling for something mediocre, I designed my own. This directional fan cover was built with a thicker, stronger shell and a curved tunnel design that redirects airflow while helping reduce direct rain and splash exposure. Instead of leaving the fan opening facing outward toward incoming weather, the airflow path is turned away to help shield the fan while still allowing ventilation. The goal wasn’t to completely waterproof a fan — because airflow still matters — but to create something practical, durable, and actually usable for outdoor electronics, enclosures, cooling systems, and DIY projects. I also wanted it to look clean instead of looking like another rushed utility print. The final design is compact, sturdy, simple to print, and built with real-world use in mind.
