About this 3D model

Giraud modelled this dog during an excursion near Rome in 1811, later producing this marble version. The animal's position, with ears cocked, is picturesque and realistic. The base is decorated wuth a low relief showing the qualities attributed to dogs - loyalty, bravery, vigilance and agility: a dog is depicted watching over a funerary urn, fighting a bull, killing a snake that threatens to bite a sleeping child, and tearing apart a deer.
