Model Description:This download contains a highly detailed model of a Soviet BTR-80 wheeled APC. This version of the vehicle was only equipped with a small turret and MG, and not the autocannon found on the BTR-80A. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible without sacrificing printability or durability. Historical Description:The BTR-80 is a wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) designed by the Soviet Union. The vehicle entered service in 1986 and remains in service to this day. The BTR-80 is an 8x8 platform able to carry 7 passengers, alongside its 3-man crew, for a total of 10 people. The vehicle is quite fast, able to reach speeds of 56mph (90km/h). The BTR-80 possesses a 14.5mm KPVT MG as its primary armament within the turret. This is different than the 30mm 2A72 found on the BTR-80A variant. The vehicle's armor is very thin, designed only to stop low caliber rounds for limited passenger protection.
