This is a printable support system designed to convert the Ezy Storage 18L waterproof box (available at Home Depot) into a 5-spool filament drybox. Each rack uses two ½" wooden dowels supported by 3D printed feet and rod holders to cradle the spools above a bed of desiccant beads. This keeps everything tidy, elevated, and ready for dry storage. The feet drop neatly into the molded pockets at the bottom of the box, and the rods provide a low-friction cradle for standard and Bambu-sized spools. Assembly is easy, tool-free (aside from dowel cutting), and customizable if you want to tweak the hole spacing for alternate spool sizes. ?️ Assembly Instructions Print the parts : Rod holders : Designed to print with the flat face down . Use a brim for better bed adhesion — I had one or two fail without it. Feet : Print with the top face down , so the arms point upward. They print fine without a brim. Insert rod holders into the feet : It’s a tight press fit — I used a pair of Knipex pliers to seat them fully. You can file the pin slightly if you'd prefer a looser fit. Use the 3rd hole from each side to support 5 spools — fits Bambu and standard filament spools. Cut two ½" wood dowels to 12.5"–12.75" : 12.5" gives you a bit of side clearance 12.75" makes for a tighter fit that limits side-to-side movement Dry fit the assembly in the box : Place the feet into the molded pockets on the bottom of the Ezy Storage 18L box Adjust positioning if needed Secure with tape : Use strong double-sided tape (like 3M VHB) inside the pockets Press the fully assembled rack into place Add desiccant beads, close the lid, and you're done. ✅ ? Notes & Observations The feet are designed to sit flush inside the base pockets of the Ezy box. I originally tried superglue but it doesn't bond to polypropylene — use VHB tape instead. Snap-fit dowel holders were considered, but PLA was too brittle at small scale , so I went with a reliable press-fit instead. I may eventually design a desiccant/hygrometer holder to match the setup.
