The idol of the Amlash type is abstract and stylized, and its oversized thighs are particularly striking. Breasts mark it as feminine. It shows influences of the Mesopotamian advanced cultures in the south and the steppe art of the north. Characterized by the crown as a deity, the figure itself was probably a votive offering, such as those donated to sanctuaries and tombs. Female idols with expansive body proportions have been known since the Stone Age, representing symbols of fertility and incarnations of mother goddesses and thus of creation and origin.
