When the empire occupied Mennesker, it be- stowed nobility upon a few of its residents, but they still maintained a strong sense of their native identity. The nobility in Mennesker has pushed to in- crease their influence over local matters — foreign matters are dealt by Lyria directly — but have met resistance by local organizations and way of life. What they view as a laid back and pious culture is what glues the population together, something unfathomable for posh aristocrats. Nonetheless, they have power and make a show of it with splen- did galas and events.
