About this 3D model

By special request: The easiest way to get between Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows (that doesn't involve a car at least), the Snow Creek trail features a ridiculously steep climb from the Valley floor to the rim. The model shows the trail as a raised band. This makes it possible to print on a single extruder machine. You can see my tutorial video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4-ICkvyJv0 I made it from a LIDAR dataset collected to study nitrogen export and made available on http://opentopo.sdsc.edu/. The LIDAR point cloud was gridded to a 0.5m resolution.
