About this 3D model
Don Luis Daoiz, Spanish artillery captain, was the main leader of the uprising of Madrid in May 2nd 1808 against the French. When the French Army started to shoot at civilians in central Madrid he commanded only a few soldiers and civilians, against the high command orders to obbey the French, to take the artillery barracks and defend it for hours against thousands of soldiers of the mightiest army of the time, until he died at the feet of the guns at the gates of the barracks of Monteleon. Along with his comrade artillery captain Pedro Velarde (and Jacinto Ruíz) his heroic defense of the Spanish sovereignty is legendary. So the bronze lions of the Spanish Parliament, the best guardians of the people, are named Daoiz and Velarde. Includes two parts, the body and his left arm and sword. 28mm scale
