It is the oldest building in all of Hagglethorn Hollow.Away from the prying eyes of the Wizarding guild, the townsfolk gather here to drink, to feast, and to make their covert plans to overthrow the evil magic-wielders who have come to rule the streets above. The hearth is always lit. The mugs are always full. The conversation, if you listen carefully, is never quite as innocent as it sounds.Generations later, the Longhouse still stands. After a fashion.It is said that the ballads of the bards who once entertained in this mighty hall can still be heard by those with courage enough to listen, whispered on the breeze through the broken beams of the ruin. Most folk in the new Hollow give the place a wide berth after sundown. A few don't, and they tend not to come back.Hagglethorn Hollow is a township built over the ruins of buildings that were built over the ruins of other buildings. As time passes, new adventurers discover the Hollow and rebuild it to their needs, only for some ancient forgotten calamity to rise once more and level the town to its foundations, leaving no survivors to warn of the cycle. The Longhouse is the oldest building in the Hollow, which means it has seen the cycle turn more times than any other. The broader area at the base allowed me to get creative as I built upward and eventually to the chimney it was climbing. The thatch and wood elements aided this by creating interesting breaks in its otherwise hay-bale-like state. While a classic Viking longhouse was a good starting point for the sculpt, there is a noticeable departure from classic Norse construction, which was vital to me as I was creating a fantasy village, not a historical one."This bundle includes two complete versions:The Longhouse (intact) A massive three-part thatched building originally hand-sculpted by Johnny. Multiple internal play areas including a dungeon level beneath, with the broad base and climbing chimney giving the Longhouse a silhouette that anchors any Old Town board.The Longhouse (ruined) The same building, generations later. Roof collapsed, beams broken, story unfinished. Fully compatible footprint with the intact version for timeline-jumping campaigns, swampland encounters, and "what happened here?" scenarios. The exposed beams create dramatic line-of-sight opportunities and natural cover for ranged combatants. If you already own the Tavern bundle, the bases connect naturally and you can swap upper sections across the four buildings for additional variety.Crafted for modular play, the Longhouse connects seamlessly with the rest of the Hagglethorn Hollow building line, including the Tavern, Homestead, Cottage, Chieftain's Hall, and Barracks, to populate a full village.
