Bambulab recommends keeping the printer open for PLA printing. So remove the glass panel and open the door. In most cases this seems to work well and the problems become less. I have had problems mainly when switching between PLA and PETG. I use PETG as the base material and PLA as the backing material. After many changes in a short time, clogging of the extruder was predictable. The filament becomes so soft over the hotend that it gets so deformed in the extruder that it can no longer be transported here, it then simply gets stuck. The hotend is equipped with a fan, but the ventilation of the heat sink is obviously insufficient. Especially when changing filament, the nozzle is usually heated up higher than the filament is printed before flushing. Exactly here was then the problem with my prints and I had to abort the print. This upgrade offers several benefits: Increased Build Volume: By covering the printer with a glass plate, the build volume is increased. This reduces the strain on the PTFE tube that carries the filament to the extruder, facilitating smoother filament feed in both directions. Improved Cooling: The frame supports the glass plate and a fan positioned above the print head when it's in the filament change position. This directs cooler ambient air onto the print head, even penetrating into the print head through a larger opening above the extruder. The small fan on the hotend heatsink also circulates cooler air. This rapid cooling of critical components ensures optimal performance. Optimized Airflow: The strategic placement of the exhaust vent above the waste bin, combined with natural convection, creates an airflow that bypasses the print bed, preventing it from affecting the printed object. Direct airflow onto the print could cause warping or delamination by disrupting the controlled cooling of individual layers. This results in higher quality prints. Additional Fans and Warping: Using additional fans during printing can negatively impact the print, increasing the risk of warping. To avoid direct airflow onto the print, especially in open-frame printers, I've added a switch to my additional fan so it only runs during filament changes. This preserves the fan's lifespan, and I've avoided unnecessary electronics. The limit switch used is a changeover switch. This means that further functions could be implemented. Also Glasscheibe herunternehmen und Tür öffnen.
