Model Description:This download contains a highly detailed model of an FV4201 "Chieftain" Mk. 3. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible without sacrificing printability or durability. Historical Description:The Chieftain was a Main Battle Tank (MBT) fielded by the United Kingdom during the Cold War. The vehicle entered service in 1967 and would remain active through the 1990s, albeit with upgrades. The Chieftain was the successor to the Centurian MBT, itself following from the cruiser tanks of World War 2. The vehicle mounted the powerful 120mm L11A5 rifled cannon and boasted armor in excess of 350mm (14") in some places. The Chieftain was meant to combat the Soviet IS-3 and T-54/55 tanks which were threatening to invade western Europe.
