The fyrdmen units may not be the most resilient to the unpredictable chaos of battle, as their members are not regular warriors. However, with strong leadership, they can sometimes deliver surprisingly effective performances. Archery units are one of the few formations where the inclusion of fyrdmen does not stand out negatively. This is because it is rare for these troops to be called upon to perform any task other than supporting their comrades from a safe distance. Even the most timid archers can find some reassurance in such roles. Nevertheless, a wise jarl will choose to mix these troops with a few seasoned bondis to ensure greater cohesion and a stronger martial spirit.
