While Rachslom officially upholds equality, women are rarely seen among its soldiers and those in positions of leadership. Heidi wants to be seen as a soldier — not as an exception, not as proof of something, not as "the woman who made it in." Just a soldier. As a child, Heidi played fighters with her brothers in the outskirts of Krom. The brothers always lost. From that moment on, Heidi knew her calling. When Heidi was 16, Sergeant Malfors Medians witnessed a fight between Heidi and her brothers. The sergeant couldn't take his eyes off her: a young woman swinging a stick like a professional. She stepped aside with the speed of the wind when her brothers tried to strike. Malfors decided to give Heidi a chance and handed her a real spear. After that, Heidi disappeared into the forest for 2 years. No one knows where she was. When she returned, Heidi fought better than any Guardian of Krom. Malfors decided to give Heidi her chance and took her into his unit. Heidi loves her spear and refuses to go anywhere without it. The spear has taken its share of damage over the years, but Heidi always takes it to the village blacksmith for repairs — and refuses to replace it with a new one.
