His father was once a soldier at Krom’s old defensive outpost before the War of Religions, and Rusty grew up hearing stories of the time when the post still mattered. When the outpost fell into decay and his father drank himself to death in Bottomless Pleasure, Rusty was left without direction — but not without a sword. Rusty joined the Krom guards at a young age, as it was the only way he knew how to put food on the table. He is not a particularly ideological man. To him, Vaccaratha is more ritual than faith — he says the right words at the right times, but rarely considers their meaning. What makes Rusty interesting is his relationship with the people of Krom. He grew up among them. When Sergeant Malfors Medians ordered him to arrest the first “heretic” — someone Rusty had known since childhood — he obeyed. He tells himself he had no choice. Rusty does not like Malfors’s wooden scepter. He never says it out loud, but he looks away during punishments. He drinks with Malfors, laughs with him — and quietly hopes that something will change, without him having to do anything to make it happen. --------------- This miniature is perfect as a one-off encounter for your tabletop role-playing game, or as a substitute for a soldier.
