About this 3D model

For a while I've wanted to create a universal light box frame which allows makers to insert their own picture and artwork designs. The idea is to have a generic box with a slot into which printed designs can be inserted. I also wanted to take advantage of close to the maximum size which can be printed on my Bambu Labs P1P. I also realised that there are different thicknesses of picture which may need to be inserted. For example the usual light box picture may be 1mm and a lithophane or HueForge design could be 4mm in thickness (or perhaps more). With this in mind, I've designed the Versatile Light Box with a way to attach different sized tops that will provide a slot of different sizes to accommodate designs of different thicknesses. Included in this model are the following: A universal box, which measures 225mm x 225mm x 40mm Various tops designed to fit the universal box, providing slots with thickness of 2mm, 3mm and 4mm. A set of 7 pins to join the top to the universal bottom. The universal box has a hole of 12mm in the back, as I use a 12mm plug in my designs. If you want me to provide the box without the hole, let me know. Hints: Printed the pins using a brim, and then the brims cut of using a craft knife (see one of the pictures). The pins are 3.3 mm in diameter and the holes in the top and bottom are 3.5mm. Clean the holes in the top and bottom with a 3.5mm drill bit (I think that's 3/64" for our US cousins?) Print with a layer height of 0.16 will provide a better finish. The green topped model in the picture was printed at 0.2mm layer height because I was a little impatient :). The black model was printed at 0.16 layer height and has a much nice finish. The two slide in pictures (Tiger Cub and Pony) are included for you to try as samples (if you have an AMS to print them). They are 1mm thick when printed. Picture size which will fit in the this box is 214mm x 214mm The Bambu Studio file has the top for a 2mm slot. Other STEP files have been provided if you need tops for 3mm or 4mm slots. General comments: Yes, I know that there are other items such as picture frames and so on which do something similar. As I said, I wanted to have something near the maximum size of my print plate. Yes, I know that a custom light box with an edge that follows the design looks better in most cases. This Versatile Light Box is part of a bigger project that I'm working on. I still do custom light boxes similar to other makers. Why 225mm x 225mm? Because I wanted to leave some room for a purge tower if printing this is multiple colours. This was designed for a P1P so hopefully will fit ok on the X1.
