Discovered in the Besano Formation of northern Italy, it was a marine reptile adapted for life in the ocean. Besanosaurus had an elongated snout filled with numerous sharp teeth, ideal for catching fish. It reached lengths of up to 8 meters (26 feet), making it one of the larger ichthyosaurs of its time.
